January 9th, 2003
In attendance: Colin, Rob, John(the troop grub), Dawn, Michelle, Heather, Mike, Tom, Taylor (late)
7:30 - Meeting beging.
7:31 - Minutes lost because…
8:03 - Computer crashes….minutes lost forever from previous half hour.
8:04 - Algonquin park is discussed. Heather isn't paying attention to John's awesome orienteering and mapping skills. "And then you go along here by this lake until you get to a road around that lake…then the park is just off some sort of panicilla".
8:07 - Colin found a reserve where we can get some dog sleds with dogs and we can learn how to dog sled. The price will probably drive up almost $100. Right now it seems like a pipe dream.
8:09 - Skating, ice fishing, toboganing, snow shoeing and stuff seems like good winter activities for our camp. We need to find a nice campsite by a big frozen lake.
8:11 - Tom wants to plan a games night for us. He also wants a laser tag or Pla(no y)dium.
8:12 - Dawn and Heather make their reports on the district winter camp. We are looking for wood. We need to have a night patrol. A group of venturers will wander aimlessly throughout the camp to make sure the little kiddies stay toasty warm. Looks like the picnic shelter is not going to be available (well it is, but we don't want the responsibility. Tents it is then
8:23 - Movie night will be Feb 15th. We WILL be watching the Star Wars Trilogy.
8:24 - Snow Moot is a no go cause the registration has passed.
8:26 - Repelling is on the 12th of April.
8:27 - Want to go to the zoo?? Apparently we do, so Dawn will look into the whole zoo deal.
8:28 - Colin wants us to get committed to a full first aid/CPR course…it looks pretty heavy. Do we want to do it?? Colin thinks we should. Feb 8th seems to be a starting point to look at.
8:31 - Colin would like everyone to verify that everyone's parents can come to a 19th of Jan parent meeting…everyone.
8:34 - The bring your friends to camp camp is discussed. Heather's cottage wouldn't work due to space. 21st to 23rd looks good to go out to Heather's place, though. The lakes should still be nice and frozen.
8:38 - May is still wide open…what about the may long weekend for the bringing up a friend to camp??? Colin will investigate.
8:42 - Rob motions to hand out condoms at every camp just to be safe.
8:44 - Adirondack project is discussed. They've been staked out, approved and the dedication ceremony is finished. We'll have to plan a camp to get up and help out.
8:47 - Colin wants us to get a card together for the late Mrs. Hamilton.
8:48 - Michelle gives us a treasury report. We have $1515.82 in the old account.
8:51 - We need a theme for competition camp…last year was team work. Everyone please think of a theme.
8:52 - Taylor gives a riveting secretary report. All are awed.
8:57 - Apparently I'm supposed to be training John in the ancient ways of the secretary…All I have to say is "you are not ready to leave the temple yet young grasshopper."
8:58 - Mike suck-diddily-uck's.
8:59 - Dawn is mad at our lack of support for the area youth thing. Not my fault I say.
9:00 - Meeting adjourned.
