2004-2005 Minutes Minutes Archive

January 23rd, 2003

In attendance: Colin, Bobby, Dawn, Michelle, Taylor, Thomas, Josh, Mike, John, Kristine, Heather

7:30 - Meeting begins.

7:31 - Taylor recites last weeks minutes.

7:48 - Colin gives us admirable advice on winter camp gear. He would rather us deliver first aid rather than receive it from others. Colin gives us an add campaign for wool socks.

7:51 - Colin gives us a quick lesson in camping thermodynamics. Kristine attempts to usurp Taylor’s control of the minutes.

7:54 - Who actually checked about getting items for the auction?? That’s what I thought…no one. Well, that just won’t do. Get on it for next week.

7:55 - John is questioned about the winter camp he is trying to plan for the scouts.

7:56 - Do we want to make a camp out of our little adirondack project?? Kristine is caught off gaurd where her duties are required. Kristine shall visit burlingtondistrict.org (camp feb 28-march 2) Call Manitou.

7:59 - Dawn is a very bitter person. It seems that everything is making her bitter. People owe much money yet no one seems to be bringing it in.

8:00 - We need to finalize a menu for winter camp and then Rob will send Taylor the menu.

8:03 - Trying to plan for the early get up for winter camping. Taylor needs to check the car and Rob may be slightly late. Dawn is even more bitter than she was before as she finds out her schedule for the weekend is not to her agreement.

8:05 - Kristine learns that our shelter for camp will be supper fun. Apparently no body likes Taylor. Tom stands to gives us a stiring speech that would make Charels Foster Cane jealous. We will go to see the Toronto Maple Leafs crush an opposing team like flabby grapes. Tom will send out an e-mail (ha! Ya right!!) for the game schedule…pick a game that matches your timetable.

8:10 - Kristine admits her deeply seeded fear of being bitten by a horse. Heather wants to go swimming and it would seem that she wants to drag the whole group down with her. A slide for 4 year olds seems to greatly attract the group to this event.

8:11 - Looks like most of the group is a go for the first aid training course for the 8th of Feb. Dave and Don are coming…Colin tries to zing Taylor but Taylor refutes all arguments against him bringing the universe back into balance.

8:14 - Taylor makes a more witty than average remark and then receives a beating from Kristine. Spring camp: Date? Activity? Does the May 24th weekend sound good?? Too bad, it is. What should we do for a spring trip camp if we want to bring friends to the May 24th?? Sure. May 3rd weekend seems a likely candidate for a spring trip. What do we want to do??

8:21 - Long memories of past trips of the members are shared even though no one seems to be listening. Kayaking is discussed and seems like an interesting proposal. We will need to spend the rest of the year to learn how to kayak properly. Taylor gives a propaganda filled speech about the wonders of the field of Information Distribution Engineer (Paper Boy).

8:26 - Fundraising is discussed. It seems a task of “Frodorian” proportions (Lord of the Rings people, work with me here). Kristine breaks the cardinal rule of the group….Colin will call her parents. By Wednesday night we WILL all have sent e-mails out for what we want for a big trip type deally. If your stuck on idea’s go to Colin for aid…he’s just full of insightful information.

8:32 - Movie night is discussed…there seems to be a disagreement over the choice. The argument sort of end abruptly.

8:35 - A very short treasury report is given. We are in good fiduciary position.

8:37 - Smoking at school is discussed. The smokers corners of old and new are looked at.

8:39 - Back to the spring trip….May sounds like the good date. 9th 10th and 11th weekend look’s fantastic. What do we want at this camp. White water rafting? Something equestrian based (watch out for their teeth Kristine!)?? It should be something that will reflect our really big camping trip next year. Heather’s hair is discovered in Taylor’s armpit. John wants to prince. Hiking and canoeing are idea’s for the camp. Kayaking was suggested for the spring camp though Colin is wary about some of the groups lack of Kayaking experience.

8:50 - We need to decided upon fundraising. We have ample money at the moment, but with every additional event we attend that’s more fundraising we will need to do for our bigger camping trips. Colin gives us the example of the last CJ for an ideal fundraising situation. Lets take a look at the big events coming up that we can mooch money off for the group in a fundraising activity. We should have a major camp and what we want in may looked after so that we can move into the real fundraising.

8:56 - Next week everyone will have an idea for the trips and have some info on the trips.

9:05 - Meeting adjourned.
