February 6th, 2003
In attendance: Taylor, Rob, Colin, Tom, Mike, Michelle, Josh, Kristine, John, Heather, Kt, Dawn
7:40 - Meeting begins.
7:43 - Taylor recounts last weeks minutes.
7:52 - Colin and Tom collaborate on a draft for the donation of items for the raffle. Tom's spelling is under extreme scrutiny. Though some ineptness in the ages of the group, the letter seems sound and is approved by everyone save Dawn who, after a little persuasion, sees the light and fully supports the letter with the rest of the group.
7:59 - Taylor wishes to use sad little children for the groups fundraising needs. The groups we are sending the letters to are discussed. Mostly sporting outlets we'll be hitting such as The Leafs and Argo's. We'll talk to Mrs. Senior about the fundraising due to her success during the scouts CJ campaign.
8:02 - Competition camp is discussed. Rob will pick out one of the members to assist with the planning so they can take charge of it for the next year when Rob and Taylor (the brains and the…well, more brains respectively) leave the group for bigger better things. Kristine seems to be the young padewan of choice for this event.
8:05 - We need to get info for the camp up and out of the group and to the rest involved so we can get this whole ordeal rolling. Sometime next week Kristine and Bobby will get together for the start of planning. Colin wants us to get the info out by the end of the week to Bill.
8:06 - Funds for the camp are discussed. Due to a sever lack of last years treasurer we don't know what the financial situation from last year. An argument about the classification of Saxophone is brought up…the group has hit a new low.
8:09 - New games are discussed. The glow stick hunt from last year looks like it will return. A rousing discussion of the cruelest way to wake scouts and guides at the camp is discussed. A water boiling game is looked at though there are some fire concerns. Colin suggests a temporary shelter build. Taylor suggests the theme of the camp be "Stranded on Monster Island!!".
8:10 - The camp fire for comp camp is looked at. Ways to increase attendance from last year are looked at. More rousing camp fire games seems a sure way to boost the numbers. Mostly skits and stuff will be used in a clever way to lure more to the glowing embers.
8:15 - Colin wants a scout craft contest. We remember the good old days of scavenger hunts…mostly the items that were "impossible" to get. We want a new game to replace the reliable but inevitably old game of Man Hunt. We need idea's to replace this idea….get idea's for next week.
8:20 - The BIG trip is discussed. Many idea's are thrown out…well not thrown out, but merely issued out to the group. Michelle suggests a hiking trip. Mike did some "research" on the rocky mountains and hiking. Many more idea's are given out and I really don't feel like detailing all of them but spelunking in Texas, Surfing with the sharks in Hawaii. Kristine wants to go the Bahamas. Banff is also given out to the group. Africa is also a possible destination, that seems to peak the groups interest and it will be further investigated.
8:29 - Heather wants to run for office, but she is worried about her education. We assure her that you need absolutely no intelligence to be in the government.
8:30 - John gives us a brief overview of the Scouts winter camp he is planning.
8:32 - The importance of organization and "the future" are brought before us.
8:33 - Heather wants to go to an Ostrich farm. This idea is quickly shot down when it is revealed that an Ostrich farm will most likely end up being an slaughter house.
8:35 - This weekend's first aid thing. 1048 Waterdown Drive, Burlington. We need to sort out rides quite quickly. Staples of the group driving should check out cars but right now it looks like Kristine and Heather might be able to drive. Quick e-mailing will be needed to get drivers in place.
8:40 - Repelling on April 12th….looks to be going good.
8:41 - Tom goes up to the scouts to find the date for the scouts games night. Taylor and Kristine hold their own conversation about wisdom teeth. Dawn tells us about "Bring a friend month" in Feb. If you don't have a friend, you can't participate…sorry John. Friday 28th is when the final event for that is being held.
8:45 - Feb 27th the meeting will be held with the scouts at a bowling venue.
8:46 - The Great Uniform Debate is looked at. Lots of stuff is thrown around here, but is basically boils down to Kristine wanting us in a bright orange uniform. The basic stigmata that scouting is trying to dispel is the "helping old ladies cross the street look" that the current uniform seems to embody.
8:53 - Spring camp is looked at. Looks like caving will be the way to go. Who will plan such an excursion?? Heather is the "go to gal" on this little venture. We get a surprise visit from…Mr. Ross!! He's full of knowledge.
8:57 - Pile on Kristine!!!!!!!!!! Weddings in a dank pit are discussed!!
9:02 - Lets find out more information on Caving for next week (this is you Heather!!)
9:03 - Michelle gives us short Treasury report. Michelle is a total Loan Shark when it comes to owed money. Watch out for your knees people!!
9:05 - Bring your skates to the movie night next week at Colins so we can go out skating.
9:06 - Taylor gives a recount on how he and Dave ate all the cherry pie at camp all by themselves and then blamed the whole thing on Mike.
9:07 - Taylor…research a unique URL venturer web site.
9:08 - Mike has a puppy, and he's running it good. His puppy is the donut sale at Rib Fest.
9:10 - Colin gives the idea to hold one meeting a month in wherever we want. The motion meets little resistance.
9:13 - Colin tells us the horrifying truth of e-mail spam…I DON'T LIKE SPAM!!!!!
9:14 - Meeting adjourned.
